Prevention Link is an innovative program in Ontario focused on preventing workplace injuries, illnesses, and disabilities through both primary and secondary prevention. Supported by the WSIB and overseen by the Ontario Federation of Labour, it offers training, mentoring, outreach, and advisory services for both unionized and non-unionized workers, as well as employers. The Red Seal Program, formally known as the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Program, is a program that sets common standards to assess the skills of tradespeople across Canada. Industry is heavily involved in developing the national standard for each trade. Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) is a school-to-work initiative in Ontario that allows high school students to explore and train in over 140 skilled trades while earning credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Through cooperative education placements, students can become registered apprentices, gaining hands-on experience and a head start toward certification in various trades such as plumbing, welding, and carpentry. OYAP aims to bridge the gap between education and employment, providing a pathway for youth to enter the skilled trades workforce.
